Application
SP1-NPE Neutral earthing protection module ( brief as NPE) suitable for TT, TN-S power supply system with AC 50/60Hz, rated voltage 400V, used between Neutral line and Earthing line, make surge protection caused by indirect lightning and direct lightning or other instant over voltage. And can assembly with SP1-C, SP1-D series SPD to form the combination of 1P+NPE, 3P+NPE etc., as to improve the anti-surge performance.

Structure Features
NPE use gas discharge tube or air gap discharge as main execute component, normally it shows high resistance status, when there is surge in power grid due to indirect and direct lightning or other instant over voltage, the electrode will breakover within nanosecond grade time, to lead the surge to earth, and protect the electric equipment in the power grid, after the surge across NPE, it recover to high resistance status again, and no influence to the normal running of power grid.

Graded Protection Principle
According to dividing of lightning protection zone, at the junction area of different lightning protection zone, as per to the environment requirement of protection needed object to select suitable SPD. The installation of SPD at each lightning protection zone, according to the standard of low voltage electrical appearance to make electrical equipment classification in accordance with the over voltage category, its insulation withstand impulse voltage level can determine the selection of SPD. Install Class I SPD at the junction area of LPZOB and LPZ1, install Class II SPD at the junction area of LPZ1 and LPZ2, and install Class III SPD in LPZ2 zone. By grading discharge of lightning induction energy, gradually reduce the surge voltage to achieve the protection purpose.
According to the test of SPD Class I, II, III to classify its category:
Class I:
As per to IEC61643-1 standard, the product which test as per nominal discharge current In 1.2/50µs impulse voltage and the maximum impulse current I imp.
Class II:
As per to IEC61643-1 standard, the product which test as per nominal discharge current In 1.2/50µs impulse voltage and the maximum discharge current I max.
Class III:
As per to IEC61643-1 standard, the product which test as per combined wave (current wave 8/20µs and voltage wave 1.2/50µs)
